Three hours of sleep ... bad.
A month ago I'd noticed that the Egyptian Theater in Seattle was having a midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban this weekend. Obviously they'd set it up to coincide with the release of the new book. Usually Z and I have our Seattle time on sundays but I suggested to her that we go in after work on this particular Friday, do our usual booze and pool playing, see the movie and on the way home ... in the wee hours of the morning on July 16th ... the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ... find somewhere open 24 hours and buy the new book. Make a geeky night of it.
So that's what we did and had a right good time of it as well. Drank far too much at Charlie's, played ABBA on the jukebox, as per usual, saw the movie ... still the most beautifully filmed of the three movies out thus far ... and after a very long and confusing detour ... stopped at Top Foods in Tacoma for a pit stop and lo and behold there was the book at reasonable price. We'd thought that we were going to have to go wandering all over in order to find some place open at 3am ...
Was a weird evening. Z had worked the whole week at the college and I'd done my usual work week so we both were in need of alcoholic refreshment ... in the literal sense of the word ... Got a bit tipsy actually which made our pool game suck ... unlike the last time we played pool there when we got our pool shark on ... Amazing how when we're a bit enibriated how talking to a couple of strange guys in the poolroom is no problem for either of us. I think Z had a bit of an admirer in the one ... even though she told him she had a boyfriend. For the two girls who have body bubble issues, the both of us ended up hugging the one guy just for the heck of it.
Otherwise ... the movie was good. I'd never been to the Egyptian before. Very cool decor.
But god I'm tired ... couldn't sleep pat 9 this morning ... but I have the new Harry Potter book to read so all's right with the world ...
